Mid-Level Python/SQL Data Engineer – Financial Data and Controls

As a Mid-Level Python/SQL Data Engineer, you will be working for our client, a leading financial institution dedicated to modernizing controls and analytics within the Product Control Data and Financial Engineering Team. You will help develop robust, automated solutions to enhance data accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency, driving forward innovation in financial data management and processing.

Your main responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain automated Python and SQL solutions to improve controls and analytical processes.
• Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, validation, and publication.
• Develop a deep understanding of data sourcing, lineage, and quality checks to ensure reliability and compliance.
• Collaborate closely with Product Control stakeholders to guarantee solutions meet business needs and control standards.
• Partner with Technology teams to support deployment, integration, and supportability of data solutions.
• Promote data literacy and best practices within the team through documentation, reusable patterns, and peer support.
• Support the delivery of standardized data to operational teams in accordance with policies and governance.

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Python and SQL development in a professional environment.
• Proven expertise in building ETL/ELT pipelines and working with relational databases, especially SQL Server.
• Strong understanding of finance or financial data.
• Knowledge of SDLC, version control (Jira, Git), testing, and documentation practices.
• Analytical mindset with proactive problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Prior experience with Product Control teams or controls automation.
• Additional certifications or skills in data engineering or finance.
