Role description

• Ensure the operational stability, integrity, and availability of Unix/Linux-based products and services.

• Maintain compliance with Service Management Standards and ensure high data quality in service management systems.

• Provide support for Unix/Linux incidents, including identification and resolution.

• Ensure service resilience, sustainability, and recovery time objectives are met.

• Deliver engineering changes to infrastructure with a focus on customer/user experience.

• Develop and deploy infrastructure changes to meet load, performance, availability, security, and resilience requirements.

• Automate build, testing, and deployment processes to minimize variation and ensure high-quality outcomes.

• Drive automation, continuous integration, and high availability through system monitoring and maintenance.

• Handle on-call responsibilities for the Unix management team.

Requirements

• Solid knowledge of Unix/Linux administration, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 6, 7, 8, 9).

• Strong understanding of Unix/Linux OS concepts: processes, services, filesystems, permissions, and user management.

• Shell scripting skills (Bash) for automation and operational support.

• Experience with system monitoring, log analysis, and performance troubleshooting.

• Knowledge of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, firewalls, and connectivity troubleshooting.

• Experience with patching, package management, and vulnerability remediation (YUM/DNF, RPM).

• Knowledge of server hardening and security controls in line with infrastructure standards.

• Experience managing high-availability production environments and supporting critical business services.

• Strong troubleshooting skills across OS, application, storage, and network layers.

• Experience with backup/restore processes, filesystem management, and capacity monitoring.

• Knowledge of automation and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible) is advantageous.

• Experience with incident and change management and working within SLAs.

• Ownership of critical production services, including out-of-hours support.

• Collaboration with infrastructure, application, security, and service management teams.

• Fluent English (written and spoken).
