Senior Software Engineer (Electron / Desktop)

Senior Software Engineer (Electron / Desktop)

🌍 100% Remote | Europe
💻 Tech stack: Electron, TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, React

What if your everyday apps could actually do the work for you?

Most of the apps we use every day - messaging, email, calendars, and task managers - still rely on us to do most of the heavy lifting.

We're partnering with an ambitious AI company that's changing that.

The team is building a new generation of AI-native applications designed to understand context, anticipate needs, and help people get things done with little to no prompting.

Their first product is an agent-first communication app combining messaging, collaboration, and intelligent AI assistance.

Now, they're looking for a Software Engineer (Desktop) to take ownership of the desktop experience and help bring this vision to life.

What you'll be working on

• Building and improving cross-platform desktop applications using Electron and TypeScript.

• Creating responsive interfaces for real-time messaging and collaboration.

• Integrating AI-powered features, including chat, agents, and intelligent assistance.

• Implementing native desktop functionality such as notifications, file system access, auto-updates, and deep linking.

• Optimizing application performance, startup speed, and memory usage.

• Managing local data, application state, and message history.

• Ensuring a smooth, reliable experience across macOS and Windows.

What we're looking for

• Strong software engineering experience with JavaScript and TypeScript.

• Hands-on experience building and shipping production Electron applications.

• Experience with React or a similar modern UI framework.

• Solid understanding of Electron architecture, application lifecycle, and IPC communication.

• Experience with local storage solutions such as SQLite, IndexedDB, or filesystem-based storage.

• Familiarity with WebSockets or other real-time communication technologies.

• Strong debugging and performance optimization skills.

• A proactive, independent mindset and genuine interest in building great products.

Nice to have: Experience with messaging, collaboration, productivity, or AI-powered applications.

✨ Why join?

AI at the core - Work on a product where AI isn't just an extra feature. It's fundamental to the user experience.

Real ownership - Shape the desktop experience, influence technical decisions, and see the direct impact of your work.

Interesting engineering challenges - Go beyond UI development and tackle real-time interactions, performance, reliability, and desktop architecture.

Remote across Europe - Work with an international, product-focused team from wherever you're based in Europe.

Small team, big ambitions - Join a hands-on engineering environment that values autonomy, quick decisions, and building high-quality products.

Recruitment process

A focused and efficient process with 3–4 interviews at most, giving you the chance to meet the technical team and explore the engineering challenges.
