Backup and Recovery Specialist (Commvault / L2 Operations)

We’re looking for a Backup and Recovery Specialist to keep an enterprise Commvault backup environment available, reliable, and running efficiently. In this role, you will focus on monitoring and incident management, restore and recovery operations, platform administration, capacity and performance management, and problem management.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the backup infrastructure and services, investigate failed jobs and system alerts, and restart jobs with the right corrective actions

• Manage incidents through their full lifecycle within SLA targets, escalating complex issues to vendors or support teams when needed

• Execute data restore requests within agreed service levels, validate their integrity, and coordinate critical restores during major incidents

• Configure and maintain backup clients, policies, schedules, retention settings, and storage resources, and onboard new systems and applications

• Track capacity and utilization trends, forecast storage needs, and optimize backup and restore performance to meet backup windows and service objectives

• Implement approved changes, upgrades, patches, and feature releases in line with established change management processes

• Conduct root cause analysis for recurring or critical incidents and drive permanent fixes and service improvements

• Support recovery testing, restore verification, and disaster recovery exercises

• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and business teams and with vendors, and maintain operational procedures and technical documentation

Requirements

• Proven hands-on experience with Commvault

• Strong understanding of backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes

• Strong understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems and VMware virtualization

• Strong understanding of NetApp storage platforms

• Solid grasp of network fundamentals and troubleshooting

• Knowledge of cloud technologies

• Experience working with incident, problem, and change management processes

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to manage priorities and meet strict SLAs in mission-critical environments

• Good command of English and clear, customer-focused communication

Nice to have

• Experience with Google Cloud

• Experience with capacity planning and storage forecasting for backup environments

• Experience planning or supporting disaster recovery tests

• Experience managing support cases with software and hardware vendors
