FinOps Cloud Engineer (10/10)

Project

Hands-on role focused on analyzing, optimizing, and automating cloud spend across a multi-cloud estate (Azure, AWS, GCP), initially focusing on logging/observability and storage cost drivers. Combining cloud engineering (IaC, automation, scripting) with FinOps practices to design sustainable cost controls, reduce run-rate, and foster cost-aware engineering behaviors within a highly governed financial enterprise.

You will

• Identify & Optimize: Analyze ingestion, retention, tiering, sampling, and routing rules across cloud logs and storage to pinpoint savings; prioritize opportunities by ROI and risk,

• Automate & Deploy: Build and deploy scalable automation and IaC templates (Terraform/CI/CD) for log/storage cost controls, drift detection, and automated governance,

• FinOps & Governance: Improve tagging and allocation models for accurate showback/chargeback; define policies, workspace quotas, default retention rules, and budget alerts,

• Stakeholder Engagement: Run optimization clinics with platform and application teams to agree on cost reduction targets, owners, and timelines,

• Reporting & Proposals: Build business cases with projected savings, produce executive-ready reporting, and present technical recommendations to senior engineering leads,

• Compliance & Control: Ensure all changes meet strict risk, compliance, and change-control frameworks, and maintain runbooks and rollback plans.

Must have

• Multi-Cloud: Hands-on Azure (Log Analytics, Monitor, Sentinel, Policy) + strong knowledge of AWS (CloudWatch, S3) or GCP (Cloud Logging, BigQuery),

• Automation/IaC: Terraform, Python/Bash, and CI/CD (GitHub Actions / Azure DevOps),

• FinOps: Practical experience in cost allocation, tagging, budgeting, and savings forecasting,

• Observability & Storage: Expertise in log architecture, data retention, and storage lifecycle management,

• Enterprise Environment: Experience with strict compliance, change management, and risk frameworks,

• Soft Skills: Ability to present technical proposals to senior leaders and run cross-team workshops.

Nice to have

• Certifications: FinOps Foundation or Cloud (Azure / AWS / GCP)

• Domain: Financial services background.
