SAP Senior FI/CO Functional Consultant

Job Description

We are looking for a Senior SAP FI/CO Functional Consultant to support international SAP transformation programs. You will lead the design, implementation and optimisation of Finance and Controlling solutions, translating business requirements into scalable, compliant SAP processes. 

Working with finance, controlling, IT and program stakeholders, you will guide delivery from requirements and configuration through testing, go-live and stabilisation. 

Your Responsibilities 

• Lead SAP FI/CO functional design, aligning solutions with enterprise architecture, finance strategy, internal controls and program objectives. 

• Analyse and optimise record-to-report, AP, AR, asset and bank accounting, cost and profit centre accounting, internal orders, product costing and profitability analysis. 

• Lead S/4HANA fit-to-standard workshops, configuration and delivery across implementations, rollouts, upgrades and migrations. 

• Configure organisational structures, ledgers, currencies, taxes, payments, allocations, settlements, period-end closing and management reporting. 

• Ensure integration with MM, SD, PP, PS, HCM, Treasury, Group Reporting and relevant interfaces and third-party applications. 

• Translate requirements into process designs, functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria and traceable documentation. 

• Coordinate unit, integration, regression and user acceptance testing, resolve defects and support data validation, cutover, go-live and handover. 

• Recommend standardised solutions, challenge unnecessary customisation and contribute to design governance, risk assessment and change control. 

• Communicate decisions and progress to finance executives, process owners, key users, technical teams, vendors and program management. 

• Mentor consultants and key users, review deliverables and contribute to knowledge transfer, reusable methods and accelerators. 

Your Profile 

• At least 5 years of SAP functional experience, including at least two end-to-end implementation or major transformation lifecycles, from discovery and design through go-live and hypercare. 

• Ability to deliver functional work packages independently, covering scoping, estimation, design, configuration, testing and handover. 

• Strong SAP S/4HANA Finance experience, including Universal Journal, Business Partner, parallel accounting and modern closing and reporting concepts. 

• Deep FI expertise across G/L, AP, AR, asset accounting, bank accounting, taxes and period-end closing, including new G/L, parallel and multiple ledgers, and document splitting. 

• Strong CO expertise across cost centre and cost element accounting, internal orders, product costing and profitability analysis, with an understanding of configuration choices and accounting implications. 

• Experience facilitating workshops, advising senior stakeholders, resolving cross-functional issues and driving decisions in international environments. 

• Strong skills in functional specifications, test design, defect management, data validation, cutover planning and end-user documentation. 

• Working knowledge of finance master data, migration objects, reconciliation, authorisations, controls and audit requirements. 

• A structured, detail-oriented and customer-focused approach, with strong problem-solving and communication skills. 

• Ability to work independently and collaborate with international business, audit, security and technical teams. 

• Excellent written and spoken English (B2-C1). 

• A relevant degree in business informatics, business administration, industrial engineering or computer science, or equivalent practical experience. 

Nice to Have 

• SAP certification in Financial Accounting, Management Accounting or SAP S/4HANA. 

• Experience with carve-outs, carve-ins, divestitures, mergers or post-merger integration. 

• Knowledge of Central Finance, Group Reporting, Treasury, Revenue Accounting, Material Ledger, advanced intercompany processes or SAP Analytics Cloud. 

• Exposure to selective data transitions, system conversions or global template rollouts. 

• Experience with SAP Activate, ASAP, PMI, PRINCE2 or another structured delivery methodology. 

• Understanding of country-specific statutory, tax and regulatory requirements in multinational SAP environments. 

• Experience leading workstreams, coordinating offshore or nearshore teams, supporting presales or estimating complex FI/CO engagements. 

• Knowledge of Fiori applications, embedded analytics, workflows and integration technologies. 

• Command of German is an advantage.
