About the project
We are looking for an experienced Technical Product Owner to lead the Scheduling and Workload Automation (SWA) capability within a global enterprise technology function. This role covers the full lifecycle of scheduling and automation platforms supporting Linux and mainframe based environments, ensuring they are reliable, resilient, secure, and continuously improving.
You will translate broad platform strategies into a clear, prioritised roadmap, balancing new capabilities with platform health, compliance, technical debt, and operational excellence. The position requires strong collaboration across engineering, architecture, operations, and service management teams to deliver and evolve a business critical capability at scale.
While experience with BMC Control M or IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS) is highly desirable, the key requirement is proven product ownership experience in large, complex, regulated environments.

Your responsibilities
- Own the vision, roadmap, and target outcomes for the Scheduling and Workload Automation (SWA) capability across build, run, and continuous improvement.
- Manage demand intake and prioritisation, balancing feature delivery, resilience, service improvements, and technical debt.
- Represent user and stakeholder needs from engineering, operations, and scheduling communities in product planning and decision making.
- Define and track measurable outcomes, including OKRs, KPIs and SLAs to demonstrate value and performance.
- Translate requirements into clear epics, user stories, acceptance criteria and non functional specifications.
- Drive cross functional collaboration with engineering, architecture, infrastructure and service management teams to deliver roadmap commitments.
- Oversee platform lifecycle management, including upgrades, migrations, onboarding and integration activities.
- Collaborate with operations and service management to improve incident, problem and change management performance.
- Lead initiatives to enhance automation, self service, reliability, capacity and resilience of batch and workload environments.
- Identify and manage dependencies and risks across enterprise platforms, applications and stakeholders.
- Ensure aligned governance with risk, security and compliance frameworks, including controls and resilience standards.
- Shape and continuously improve the operating model and ways of working for managing SWA capabilities effectively.
- Note: Detailed project information will be shared during the recruitment process.
Our requirements
- 3–7 years of professional experience as a Technical Product Owner, Product Manager, Value Stream Lead, or similar senior technology role.
- Proven ownership of a technical product, platform or service in a large scale, complex environment.
- Experience with on premises technology platforms, preferably across Linux and mainframe environments.
- Strong understanding of product ownership principles throughout the full lifecycle — from roadmap definition to continuous improvement.
- Hands on experience managing backlogs, epics and user stories, with well defined acceptance criteria and prioritisation of technical debt.
- Ability to lead and coordinate cross functional teams, manage capacity and dependencies to deliver agreed outcomes.
- Practical knowledge of operational processes — incident, problem and change management, monitoring, resilience and continuity.
- Solid grasp of risk, control, audit and compliance principles, gained preferably in regulated industries.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to translate between technical and business contexts.
- Proactive, pragmatic and delivery oriented, with a focus on achieving measurable outcomes.
Optional
- Familiarity with enterprise scheduling, workflow orchestration, and batch automation capabilities.
- Hands on experience with BMC Control M and/or IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS).
- Understanding of mainframe scheduling concepts — job dependencies, calendars, alerts and recovery procedures.
- Knowledge of integration patterns, APIs, file based and event driven interfaces.
- Experience working with Agile or Lean delivery frameworks.
- Ability to define and track OKRs, KPIs and service health metrics.
- Background within financial services or regulated enterprise environments.
