About the project

Synaptics is looking for a Software Engineer, Embedded to join our dynamic and growing organization. The successful candidate will contribute to the development, bring-up, integration, and validation of next-generation SoC and ASIC solutions powering advanced connectivity and video-processing products. Working closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams, the engineer will support software bring-up, feature development, debugging, and validation activities across FPGA, ASIC, hardware, and software platforms. This position reports to the Director, Development Engineering.

Your responsibilities

• Develop embedded software for complex SoC and ASIC Platforms
• Participate in silicon bring-up activities from FPGA prototypes through first-silicon validation and production release
• Collaborate with FPGA, ASIC, hardware, validation, and systems teams to develop and validate hardware/software interfaces
• Debug and help resolve system-level issues spanning hardware, FPGA, silicon, firmware, and software
• Support implementation of features for technologies including USB, DisplayPort, HDMI, and related interfaces
• Assist with performance, latency, and reliability analysis of embedded systems
• Participate in code reviews, and follow quality, reliability, and security practices
• Document software designs, test results, and debugging activities

Our requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent
• 2+ years of experience in embedded software and firmware development
• Proficient in C/C++ and working knowledge of Python scripting
• Experience with Linux, RTOS or bare-metal embedded environments
• Experience with USB, I2C, SPI or UART
• Hands on experience with protocol analyzers, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and debuggers, or similar equipment for system debugging
• Good understanding of embedded software principles, the software development lifecycle, version control systems, and debugging methodologies
• Exposure to Git, build systems, and automated testing environments
• Basic understanding of hardware/software interactions in embedded systems
• Ability to debug firmware and software issues using standard development tools
• Analytical and able to make informed decisions based on experience and data to improve processes and evaluate design options
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Strong team player with the ability to work within a diverse team
