Full-stack Engineer (Java/JavaScript)

About the project

The project involves the development, enhancement, and maintenance of web applications for a large European public institution. The Full-stack Engineer will be responsible for delivering end-to-end software solutions across frontend interfaces, backend services, database systems, and cloud infrastructure, ensuring high standards of performance, security, scalability, and maintainability.

Your responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain responsive web applications using modern frontend technologies and frameworks.
• Implement backend services, business logic, and RESTful APIs using Java and other relevant backend technologies.
• Design and maintain database schemas, optimize queries, and ensure data integrity across relational and NoSQL databases.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms using standards such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and JWT.
• Develop scalable and reliable application components, ensuring compliance with functional and non-functional requirements.
• Perform unit and integration testing, troubleshoot issues, debug applications, and maintain code quality.
• Deploy and manage applications using cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, containers, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Collaborate with frontend and backend developers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration across system components.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, specifications, and architectural decision records.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot and Kiro, to accelerate development while validating generated code for correctness, security, performance, and compliance with coding standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and follow Agile methodologies and established software engineering best practices.

Our requirements

• University degree corresponding to Level 7 of the European Qualifications Framework (which typically corresponds to a master’s level or 5 years of higher education), and a minimum 5 years of IT professional experience
• Very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, corresponding to Level B2
• Proficiency with fundamental front-end languages (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) and experience with frameworks/libraries including Vaadin 7, Angular, React, Vue, and Bootstrap.
• Expertise in Java 8/17 and back-end stacks (Java/Node/PHP), including JEE (EJB 3, CDI, JMS), Spring Boot, and Hibernate JPA.
• Advanced experience in designing, building, and securing RESTful APIs and web services using Kafka, Protobuf, JAX-WS, JAXB, and OpenAPI/Swagger documentation.
• Proficiency with Oracle Database, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB, including schema design, query optimization, and version control with Flyway.
• Strong understanding of application servers, specifically Weblogic 12c and 14.
• Experience with modern build and dependency management tools such as Maven, Webpack, and Vite.
• Solid background in automated testing and related tooling, e.g., JUnit 4 and Mockito.
• Expert knowledge of Git workflows (GitFlow, trunk-based) using GitLab and Bitbucket, with an understanding of legacy systems using SVN.
• Knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure) and experience with IaC tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure Bicep for environment provisioning.
• Understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) for application deployment. Deep knowledge of authentication and authorization protocols and standards (e.g., OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT).
• Proven experience working within Agile methodologies and using JIRA for task and project management.
• Ability to write clear, structured technical specifications for AI code agents (e.g., Kiro, GitHub Copilot).
• Awareness of AI limitations
