Senior PHP Developer - fully remote within Europe (m/f/d)

The Team:
At JobLeads, we believe careers should be shaped with purpose, confidence, and opportunity. That’s why we build technology that helps professionals around the world take control of their career journeys. Behind that mission is our Tech Team, a vibrant, globally distributed group of builders, thinkers, and collaborators who care deeply about the experiences we create.

We’re a team that values curiosity, ownership, and human connection. We collaborate across borders and time zones, challenge each other to grow, and celebrate the wins, big and small, along the way. From your very first day, you’ll feel it: this is a place where ideas are welcomed, contributions matter, and people genuinely enjoy working together.

Your Role:
We’re looking for a Senior Back End Developer who thrives on building elegant systems and meaningful user experiences. In this role, you’ll help shape the architecture and performance of the platform that powers JobLeads, primarily working on our backend systems with PHP and Symfony.

But this role goes beyond simply writing code. You’ll help drive technical decisions, influence the evolution of our platform, and play a key part in delivering products that empower millions of professionals worldwide.

How We Build:
Agentic engineering is how we work, not a pilot project. AI enhanced coding is part of everyday delivery, our merge requests run through an AI review pipeline in CI, and our tech leads each are constantly on the look out for ways to augment our team’s capabilities and to build agent fluency. Not all of us are equally far along yet, but the direction is settled. What we never do is ship code nobody understands.

What You’ll Be Doing:
• Design and develop scalable backend services using PHP and Symfony, ensuring performance, stability, and maintainability across the platform.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, QA engineers, and fellow developers to bring ideas from concept to launch.
• Participate in thoughtful code reviews that elevate code quality, strengthen architecture, and support team learning.
• Improve the conventions, hooks and review automation that agents rely on.
• Take ownership of features from initial concept through implementation, optimization, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Need:
• 5+ years of experience in back-end development, delivering production-ready applications.
• Strong expertise in PHP and a deep understanding of software design principles and scalable architecture.
• Extensive hands-on experience with the Symfony framework.
• Routine hands-on work with agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or comparable) on production code, not IDE autocomplete.
• Spec and verification discipline: quality is decided before the first line of code, and you close the loop with plans, tests and blocking checks rather than trusting output.
• Deliberate context management, and real strength at reviewing agent-generated code, where the bottleneck now sits.
• Proficiency with Git and modern collaborative development workflows.
• Clear and effective communication skills, especially when collaborating with a distributed global team.

Nice If You Have:
• Experience working with MySQL and ORM frameworks such as Doctrine.
• Experience making a large legacy codebase agent-friendly, or with MCP servers.

What You Can Expect On Board:
• Fully remote work - collaborate with us from wherever you do your best work.
• Flexible hours designed to support both productivity and personal balance.
• The freedom to choose your preferred equipment so you can work comfortably and effectively.
• Competitive compensation aligned with your expertise and impact.
• A diverse, supportive team culture that values openness, collaboration, and fresh ideas.
• Premium agent tooling with real token headroom and no usage leaderboards.
• Opportunities for professional growth through learning resources, training, and conference support.
• The chance to build technology that genuinely improves the lives of job seekers around the world.
• Memorable team experiences, from EU meetups to our annual company summer getaway.

At JobLeads, your work won’t just power a platform, it will help millions of professionals discover new opportunities, pursue meaningful careers, and shape their futures with confidence.

If you’re passionate about great technology, inspired by purposeful work, and excited to collaborate with a talented global team, we’d love to hear from you.
