DB2 z/OS Systems Programmer

Responsibilities:

• Install, customize, upgrade, and maintain Db2 for z/OS environments and associated ISV tools from vendors such as IBM, Broadcom, and CA.

• Execute software maintenance using SMP/E across MVS/z/OS environments, applying service updates and version upgrades.

• Administer Db2 access control and security rules using RACF and ACF2 to manage system authorizations and permissions.

• Perform system performance tuning, monitoring, database sizing, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve processing anomalies or system errors.

• Support disaster recovery (DR) strategy and lead functional testing for the tertiary backup environment.

• Maintain JCL, operational utilities, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical documentation for mainframe database operations.

• Provide ongoing operations support and collaborate with Service Centers and business teams to handle incident escalations, resolutions, and reporting.

Skills:

• Hands-on experience in installation, customization, and maintenance of Db2 for z/OS and SMP/E within an MVS/z/OS environment.

• Deep understanding of relational database concepts, IBM utilities, JCL, access methods, file structures, and Db2 monitoring tools.

• Practical experience implementing RACF or ACF2 Db2 security authorization models and executing Disaster Recovery (DR) protocols.

• High proficiency with ecosystem tools and ISV software from IBM, Broadcom, and Computer Associates (CA).

• Experience participating in large-scale complex projects to design and implement mainframe database solutions.

• Excellent root-cause analysis skills paired with strong written and spoken English communication skills.

• Prior experience in banking, financial services, or enterprise commercial environments is highly preferred.
