About the role:

We are looking for an experienced Lead Java Developer to join a retail technology project focused on product information and large-scale data processing.

In this role, you will combine hands-on backend development with technical leadership, working with a cross-functional team to build and operate scalable services that support product discovery and filtering. You will have real influence on technical decisions and take ownership of solutions throughout the full development lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop backend services using Java and Spring Boot

• Build and maintain microservices and event-driven solutions

• Work with large volumes of product data coming from multiple sources

• Design and develop REST APIs

• Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions

• Take ownership of the full delivery lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and support

• Drive technical decisions and participate in architecture discussions

• Conduct code reviews and support other developers

• Improve the reliability, maintainability, and performance of existing services

• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders and other engineering teams

Requirements:

• Strong commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot

• Solid experience with microservices architecture

• Hands-on experience with event-driven architecture

• Practical knowledge of Apache Kafka, Redpanda, or similar messaging technologies

• Experience designing and working with REST APIs

• Good experience with AWS

• Experience with MongoDB

• Knowledge of automated testing and CI/CD practices

• Experience with Docker

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform or AWS CDK

• Ability to combine technical leadership with hands-on development

• Strong ownership, communication, and collaboration skills

Nice to have:

• Experience with MongoDB Atlas

• Testcontainers

• Gradle

• GitHub and Renovate

• Monitoring and troubleshooting using Kibana

• Python or Svelte

• Previous experience in retail, e-commerce, or product information systems
