Senior Devops engineer

Overview

Our client is undertaking a significant technology transformation programme, including data centre and infrastructure migration initiatives across a large enterprise estate.

They are seeking an Infrastructure Platform Engineer with strong Linux administration and enterprise support experience to help maintain platform stability, support complex migration activities, and provide operational expertise across a diverse infrastructure landscape.

The role would suit someone from a Linux, Unix, Infrastructure Support, Application Support, Production Support, or Platform Engineering background who enjoys solving complex technical issues and maintaining business-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and maintain complex Linux-based production environments.

• Investigate and resolve infrastructure, platform, and application-related issues.

• Ensure platform stability, performance, and operational resilience.

• Assist with large-scale infrastructure and environment migration programmes.

• Support physical-to-virtual and on-premise-to-datacentre transformation initiatives.

• Collaborate with infrastructure, operations, and business teams to support strategic platform objectives.

• Automate operational processes using Ansible and associated tooling.

• Participate in environment management, patching, upgrades, and system maintenance activities.

• Contribute to operational best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and long-term platform strategy.

Required Skills & Experience

Essential

• Strong Linux administration experience.

• Previous Infrastructure Support, Platform Support, Production Support, or Systems Engineering background.

• Proven troubleshooting and incident management experience.

• Experience maintaining enterprise-scale production environments.

• Hands-on experience with Ansible.

• Experience using Azure DevOps in enterprise environments.

• Understanding of infrastructure operations and platform management.

• Experience supporting business-critical applications and services.

• Exposure to infrastructure migration programmes.

• Experience working within Financial Services or other highly regulated environments.

Desirable

• Unix administration background.

• Puppet experience.

• Data centre migration experience.

• Physical-to-virtual migration experience.

• Large-scale environment build and management experience.

• Capital Markets, Trading, or Low-Latency platform exposure.

• Experience supporting quantitative research or trading environments.
