About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a cross-functional Agile team working on data solutions within the banking sector.

In this role, you will work across AWS cloud and on-premises Oracle environments, contributing to the development and modernization of data platforms based on Data Mesh and Medallion architecture. You will be involved in building scalable data pipelines, modernizing legacy systems, and ensuring high standards of data quality, security, and performance.

What you’ll do

• Design, implement and optimize end-to-end data solutions across AWS and legacy DWH environments

• Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Airflow, dbt and SAP Data Services

• Contribute to Data Mesh, Data Products and Medallion architecture initiatives

• Support the modernization and migration of legacy data platforms towards cloud-native solutions

• Work with Oracle DB, SAP IQ, SAP Data Services and SAP Business Objects

• Develop and optimize solutions using SQL and Python

• Contribute to integrations involving real-time, message-based and event-driven architectures

• Ensure data solutions meet requirements around quality, security, scalability and performance

• Participate in code reviews, monitoring, alerting and troubleshooting of data pipelines

• Work closely with data engineers, analysts and business stakeholders in an Agile environment

• Follow DevOps and SDLC practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code and automated testing

• Participate in the EOD ROTA, providing incident support when required, typically until 23:00–24:00

What we’re looking for

• Strong hands-on experience with SQL and Python

• Commercial experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure or GCP

• Hands-on experience with Airflow and/or dbt

• Good understanding of enterprise data platforms, particularly Oracle DB, SAP IQ, SAP Data Services and SAP Business Objects

• Experience with data integration and event-driven architectures, including integration between legacy and modern platforms

• Understanding of ETL/ELT and modern data architecture

• Experience with Data Products, Data Mesh and Medallion architecture

• Exposure to DevOps practices, including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, security and automated testing

• Experience working within Agile / cross-functional teams

• Strong communication and collaboration skills

• Good command of English
