The Role

Docplanner is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to own the Payments area. You will lead a team of 7–9 engineers, working closely with the Product Manager to keep the team efficient, focused, and AI-native, while remaining hands-on in the code.

Responsibilities

• Own performance management: set clear expectations, provide direct feedback, run reviews, and address underperformance.
• Level up engineers: build growth plans, coach through pairing and code reviews, and create stretch opportunities.
• Collaborate with Product and Design to decide on investment priorities, experiments, and pivots.
• Stay hands-on: work directly in the codebase, implementing features and architectural changes.
• Maintain AI-native practices and ensure high quality while keeping operational burden low.
• Track and communicate impact using metrics like delivery speed, quality, and product outcomes.

Wymagania

What we're looking for

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• 4+ years leading engineering teams in product companies, including hiring, growth, and performance management.
• A track record of growing people and handling difficult performance situations.
• Hands-on experience using AI to speed up code writing, review, and refactoring.
• A founder mindset: ability to move quickly from idea to experiment and pivot based on user feedback.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity.
• Fluent English.

Nice to have

• Experience in payments or fintech (e.g., PSPs, reconciliation, or compliance).
• Experience working at scale.
